Navy Caiman Race 2024: The OCR Conquers Portovenere
L'Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) continues to grow in Italy, and the event Navy Cayman Race 2024, held on 5 and 6 October in Portovenere (La Spezia), was an exciting test of this expanding phenomenon. Organized by theENDAS in collaboration with the Command of the Diving and Raiders Group “Teseo Tesei” (COMSUBIN) and the Municipality of Portovenere, the event received the patronage of various institutions, including the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Sport and Environment.
A Path Inspired by Military Training
There Navy Cayman Race stood out for its unique 7-kilometer course dotted with over 30 obstacles inspired by military training. Another course, the 100-meter race, saw athletes from all over Italy battle for victory. Located in the picturesque town of The Graces, the race saw the participation of athletes of all ages and levels, including military, civilians, professionals and amateurs. The event also offered a Navy Cayman Kids, a competition dedicated to children aged 5 to 11, demonstrating the inclusiveness and accessibility of OCR sport.
High Level Performances and Winners
The race tested the athletes with challenging obstacles and a technical course, but in the end, the podium rewarded the strongest. Alberto Miotti took first place in the men's 100-meter race, demonstrating once again his extraordinary physical shape and ability. In the women's category, victory went to Francesca D'Ambruoso, who confirmed his exceptional form after the recent triumph at the Folgaria European Championships in June.
An Atmosphere of Challenge and Solidarity
The Navy Cayman Race offered much more than just a sporting competition. The atmosphere of fair play and camaraderie characterized the entire event, with athletes encouraging each other during the toughest tests and celebrating everyone's successes together. This community spirit, typical of OCR, made the race special and attracted an ever-growing number of fans.
Sustainability at the Center of the Event
The event also placed emphasis on environmental sustainability, following the guidelines of the Ministry of Environment and of the Energy Security. With the initiative “WE RESPECT SPORT AND THE ENVIRONMENT“, ENDAS has promoted recycling practices and the reduction of single-use plastic, demonstrating that even a sporting event can be environmentally friendly.
